PSA Return from November Submission hits different

24/02/2024

By far the most valuable submission, the November 2023 PSA, has come to an end and arrived at S.L.A.P./Manuel this week.

Earlier this week I received the info about a value charge for one of my cards which came as sort of a surprise. Of course this is a positive message so I was eager to find out the grades.

As I wrote in my submission post the expected grades were the following: Shining Celebi (3 or 4), Shining Steelix (7) and Shining Gyarados (5).

The return stream started and the excitement went up. The first reveal was my Celebi which turned out to be a solid PSA 1, with only a population of 3 probably the better option than my expectation. And to be honest with that many creases I’m impressed they graded it at all.

After some more very strong grades from the other submitted cards, a lot of 10s, it was time for the next card. Steelix had me excited as well, I expected a 7 and received an 8. The grader did seem to have a very good day/week with us.

That should be my lucky day. Time went on as many more grades were revealed and the excitement built up. Towards the end it was time for the big one for me. My Shining Gyarados.

Manuel seemed excited too for this one, as he slowly revealed the grade to be a PSA 8. A grade I truly never expected since the back surface did have some scratches that in my opinion would rather be a 6/7, but I simply do not complain about this one.

So basically I was off with every single grade but in the most positive way.

Now my fire was rekindled to go on my hunt for the missing Shining cards. Shining Noctowl is waiting to be submitted, but I am building up some more fire before submitting. Today a Shining Magikarp auction is ending, I don’t expect to win but if I do, I have a CGC 6.5 to crack and resubmit along the Noctowl.

Some more cards I might submit: Japanese Southern Island Butterfree, Cyndaquil HG&SS Promo and One Piece Ace Leader Alt Art. But currently not 100% sure about the constellation, so I will wait some more.
